Est. 1-31-28 Gaze—Martin Miss Mlary Elizabeth Gaze, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gaze, became the bride of Mr. Clar- Elwood Martin on Thursday at the Tryon Presbyter ian church. Rev. D. Ml MlcGeachy, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiated. The church was decorated with ivy, white dahlias, gladioli, hy drangeas and clematis. Mrs. Wal ter Jones played the wedding music. Miss Elizabeth Thackston sang “At Dawning”; Miss Margar et Sprague played a violin solo, “Oh! Promise Mje,” and Mr. George Cooksey sang, “I Love You Truly.” The bride entered with her fath er, who gave her in marriage. She wore a traveling dress of black berry with black accessories. Her corsage was of tube rose and sweet heart roses. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Mrs. Agnes S'uttle, of Charlotte. Brother of the Mr. Alonzo Martin, of N. C., served as best €anan. A reception for the wedding par ty, out-of-town guests and a few close friends was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gaze, after which the bride and groom left for a short motor trip. Rotary Today Senator F. P. Bacon had charge of the Tryon Rotary club program today and conducted an interest ing “Get Acquainted” program in which the members were asked to tell about themselves, where they came from and why they came to Tryon, etc. TRYON, N. C., FRIDAY, Softball iFinals Winding Up A Big Season The Bushwhackers defeated the Ballew Grocery softball team on Thursday afternoon in the semi finals of the softball season. The score was 8 to 4. Beginning Monday afternoon the final games for the championship of the local league will be played between the Bushwhackers and the Kilowatters. The title will go to the team winning two of the scheduled three-game series. At tendance at these final games is expected to be large. No, admission will be charged. CURB REPORTER Radio commentators report that German troops and airplanes have invaded Poland and that 16 Ger man planes have been shot down. The Germans have bombed War saw, the capital and other Polish cities. England and France have given Germany only a few hours time in which to order her sol diers from Polish soil or the French and English will declare war on Germany. Danzig, has already been united with Germany upon declaration of Hitler Talk about leaning on snovets all you want to but a fellow this morning reported seeing a hitch hiker on the road to Landrum where the * railroad runs parallel with the highway.
