Polk Now Has A Full
Time State Patrolman
Patrolman Robert Miller of
Robbinsville, N. C., assumed his
duties Friday as full-time high
way patrolman for Polk county.
His headquarters will be in the
old city hall on Maple street in
Tryon.
Patrolman Miller, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. R. Miller of Robbins
ville, is a graduate of the High
way Patrol Training Camp re
cently concluded near Henderson
ville, N. C., and was regularly
assigned on the Ist of September
of this year.
Already busy checking faulty
lights and drivers’ licenses, Patrol
man Miller says that he wishes
to call the attention of drivers
in Polk county to the recently en
acted state law that requires the
dimming of lights on meeting cars
at night on the highway, and also
to the fact that a state driver’s
license examiner will be in Tryon
on Monday, September 18th for
the purpose of issuing driving
licenses, and will be at the old
City Hall from 1 p. m., to 4:30
p. m. After • Monday, a drive
will be started by the patrolman
on drivers without proper licenses
in this section—and no alibis will
be accepted.
Patrolman Miller also stressed
the fact that cases will be made
against operators of cars without
taillights and with only one head
light. All Polk county highways
will be patrolled by Mr. Miller.
