ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON, N. C. UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 fry on Jaiiy bulletin Seth Mi Vining, Editor $1.50 Year In the Carolinas lc per copy (The World’s Smallest Daily Newspaper) lc per copy Vol. 12. Est 1-31-28 TRYON, N. C., THURSDAY, SEPT. 21. 1939 Tryon-Saluda Vs. Inman Hi On Friday The Tryon Saluda football team is fast rounding into shape for the opening game with Inman high on Friday, September 22nd. This is the first game of the season for the locals and will be played at Harmon Field beginning at 3:30. The Inman team opened up last Friday with Boiling Springs and dropped a close decision 6 to 0. Last year the visitors lost only one game out of nine and have another good squad. Tryon-Saluda will be grdatly improved this year with most of the men in the start ing line-up having had some ex perience. The only questionable places on the team will be one of the half back positions and one of the guard places. These will have to be filled from new men or from, reserves of last year with no man of much playing time in previous games. At present the starting line-up looks like Alex Beatson and Harold Taylor at ends, Homer Shields and Bill S-wann at tackles, Vining and either Hilton or MeCallister at guards, Locke McGeachy at center, Jones at quarterback, Dutton Beat son at left half, Green at right half, and either Melton or Ed Beatson at right half. If the game goes well all of the new men will get a chance to show their wares. Since the games with Inman have always been close and ex citing, the fans will do well to come out to this game as the visitors will furnish strong oppo sotion for an opening game and have not been scheduled for a set-up.
