Another visit to Saluda Apple
Countrv this time to Albert Sal
ley’s “Apple Valley” where I saw
some of the prettiest apples ever
grown and believe it or not one
tree had apple blossoms and apples
on the same limb. Mr. Salley said
that he thought this freak of na
ture in that particular tree was the
result of spraying. His orchard
is in fine shape and the fruit ex
cellent in quality. Some of the
trees are so heavily laden with
apples that props had to be put
under the limbs to keep them from
breaking. While there a telegram
came for a big order of apples to
be sent to Orangeburg, St C. Try
| onites should visit this section. It
* is beautiful, and Mrs. Salley has
some beautiful flowers. One par
ticular shrub was brought from
the nearby mountainside and is
officially called Euonymus Ameri
canus if that means anything to
you . . . Reception for Tryon school
teachers will be held on Thurs
day afternoon from 4 to 5:30 and
all the adults of the community
are invited to meet the teachers
and enjoy a social visit at Sunnv
dale Log Cabin .... Bulletins
