Constance Is Taken By Death Columbus, Sept. 25.—Christopher Columbus Constance, 83, died at nis home in Columbus at 8:30 a. m. Monday. Mr. Constance, a retired farmer and contractor, had been ill for five months. He was a member of the Columbus First Baptist church. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Silver Creek Baptist church in Polk County. The Rev G. V. Tillie officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Logan Cloud, John Arledge, W. H. Ham mett, Roscoe Hall, Arthur Atkins, and William Hague. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Harriett Arledge Constance: four sons, Bowan, of Cleveland, Tenn., C. W. of Lynn, Ezra, of Franklin, and Charles Constance, of Ashe mille; three daughters, Mrs. Ila Rhodes and Mrs. Nellie Tallent of Columbus, and M'rs. Cynthia Green of Green Creek; a number of grandchildren, and one half-sister Mrs. Anna Thompson of Saluda. C., TUESDAY, SEPT. 26, 1939 Tuesday Night, 7:30 The Adam and Millis Ten pin Team will Bowl the Sureshots. Adam and Millis—Costa, Ferree, Comer, Furr, Hancock and Han cock. Sureshots Derby, Mianville, Hunt, McNeely, Bay and Flynn. Spectators welcome to watch what promises to be an interesting match as we think the teams are well matched. We may be wrong, but come out and see for your selves. Religious Training School Opens Tonight The Interdenominational Relig ious Training School for the churches of Tryon, Columbus, Lynn Saluda and Landrum will open to night in the auditorium of the First Baptist Church, Tryon, with a meeting of prayers for peace led by Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln. This meeting is open to all persons and those who find it impossible to attend the School are cordially in vited to the peace devotional ser vice. The meeting will be brief. Rev. Charles L. McGavern, Re gistrar, will be at the church early to recieve registrations. Those who have not already registered should do so before 7:30 tonight that all may be present at the de votional service which will open promptly on the designated hour. Fifty-six advance registrations have been made. The registration fee for the School which will hold ten sessions, one each Tuesday night for ten weeks, is SI.OO per person.
