ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON, N. C. UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 (Elje (Ergon Seth M. Vining, Editor $1.50 Year In the Carolinas Ic per copy (The Worlds Sfcnallest Daily Newspaper) lc per copy Vol. 12. Est. 1-31-28 Marshall High 20; Tryon - Saluda 6 In a game of football which . saw the Tryon-Saluda team dom f inate the play during the first half entirely and the visitors take charge of things in the second half, the locals went down for the first time this season. The Mar shall eleven, considerably out weighing Tryon, and using two teams to advantage, scored twen ty points in the second frame and came from behind to win. The local eleven put up a gal lant fight and clearly was the superior team dur ; ng the first half. The play of the visitors was stopped and the Tryon backs reeled off yardage by line thrusts and passes to score a touchdown in the first quarter. At the end of the second quarter they were again on their way to score. The outstanding man on the line for Tryon was Vining on guard. Pos sibly the best game that he has ; played, this guard was in on every ’ play, and constantly dragged down the opposing backs before they reached the line of scrimmage. In the backfield, Green, who made the lone Tryon touchdown, stood out with his line plunges. Jones, also turned in a good account.
