Est. 1-31-28 CURB REPORTER Russia rushed to finish Fin land but her tanks began to sink before they could get to Helsinki and a lot of us will learn some thing about Finland. The papers and magazines will be full of stor ies, maps and pictures. Nearly the whole world admires the spirit of Finland and can’t see any rea son why big Russia had to jump on Finland. Phil Windsor said.it is hard to tell which is the ag gressor. For instance, he says who ever heard of a rabbit attacking a dog. Probably the dog doesn’t like the twitching of a rabbit’s offering to repair and remodel old toys for distribution to poor children. The Tryon Kiwanis club raised over S3O at their on Tues day with which to buy Christmas baskets of food and fruit and give some cheer to a few needy families in the county . . . . C. J. Lynch is receiving contributions to the Christmas tree lighting fund. It will cost around S4O just to pay the electricity to light the trees until after Christmas TRYON, N. C., WEDNESDAY, Close Scores Made In Basketball The local Adams-Mdllis basket ball teams played two interesting games on Tuesday night at the Tryon school gymnasium. The girls’ game was lest to the Gray Hosiery Mill of Hendersonville by a 34-39 s ore. The boys lost the'r game to the fast Spindale team by a score of 29-31. Colored Cooks , Maids To Have School The Duke Power Co. will hold a school of small electrical applian ces for colored cooks and maids on Thursday, night at 7:30, at the office on Trade street. All colored cooks and maids are invited to attend this free school which will offer instruction in the proper use of small electrical appilances. Mrs. Kathleen Moore, home eco nomist will conduct the school. Concert Thursday The usual Thursday morning con cert will be held at Trvon Theatre on December 7th, at 11 o’clock. Annual Meeting of Church Tonight The annual meeting and sapper of the Erskine Memorial Con°rre erational church will be held to niebt at 6:45 at Sunnydale. Re norts and election of officers.
