Camp Mrs. John MJ. “Jack” Gamp, 40, died this morning in Tryon at St. Luke’s hospital following a serious operation on Tuesday. Vuneral arrangements had not been Announced at press time. The de ceased is survived by her hus band and two sons. She was a native of Tennessee where she married Mr. Camp. The family later moved to this state and op erated a progressive farm in the Green Creek section of Polk county until recently when they sold their farm and bought in the Mill Spring section of the county and had planned to build a home shortly. Mrs. Camp was active in all civic affairs of her community and interested in the welfare of the county. She was vice-chairman of the Polk County Democratic Ex ecutive Committee and a leader in school and farm women’s ac tivities. Schools Open Monday instead of Thursday Supt. W. A. Schilletter an nounced this morning that the Tryon public schools, clos ed for the Christmas holidays, would open on Monday morn ing, January Bth, instead of Thursday, the 4th, as pre viously scheduled. This change was made upon advice of physicians on account of so many colds among the chil dren. $1.50 Year In the Carolina! TRYON, N C., WEDNESDAY, JAN. 3, 1940 N on-Resident Hunters Must Have License Game Warden William MbLean, stated this morning that all non resident hunters must have licenses that cost $15.25. Non-resident licenses are issued to hunters who have not lived in this state six months immediately prior to their application for license. Resident licenses costing $2.10. A person owning property here but living in the state only a few months will be prosecuted if he attempts to hunt with a $2.10 license instead of the $15.25 license. The fine for violation is $25.00 plus costs, etc. CURB REPORTER Thanks to Mrs. Alice R. Flen tye, the Reporter has received the past year David Lawrence’s United States News, that most interesting newspaper which so graphically pictures the important news of national affairs. The U. S. News has been changed from newspaper size to the more convenient maga zine size with enamel paper cover. Jim Perkins’ National City Bank has an ad in it which says, “Your bank should be your eyes and ears all over thd globe.
