Smith College Movies In Color
To Be Shown In Tryon
Miss Florence H. Snow, general

Alumnae Association and Mts.
Frances Carpenter Huntington,
Alumnae Trustee, will be in Tryon
on January 24th to show movies
in color of campus activities and
also a short reel of president-elect
Davis and his family.
All Smith /college Alumnae in
Tryon are invited to meet Miss
Snow and Mrs. Huntington at lunch
at the home of Mrs. John Wash
burn where the movies will bo
shown in the early afternoon. Par
ents of Slmith undergraduates or
prospective Smith students are also
invited.
Inasmuch as M!rs. Washburn
may not know of all the Smith
Alumnae who happen to be in
Tryon, she will be glad to have
them telephone her their names and
also whether or not they will at
tend the luncheon on Wednesday*
24th, at 1 o’clock.

Robert Streadwick
Robert Bates Streadwick, 66,
died Sunday at 5:45 p. m. at the
home of his niece, Mrs. George A
Cathey after a lingering illness.
He was born in Troy, New York,
the oldest son of the late Mr. and
Mirs. George Streadwick of London.
England. He came to Polk county
with his parents and a brother,
Edward William, when they were
young men. Edward died in 1925.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs.
Jas. Waldrop of Greenville, S. C.
and a number of neices and nep
hews.
Funeral services will be conducted
te the McFarland Funeral Home a
at the McFarland Funeral Home
at 11 a. m. Tuesday. Rev. B. G.
Henry will officiate. He was a
member of the Pacolst Baptist
church. Interment in the Columbus
Baptist church cemetery at Colum
bus, by the side of his parents.
Active pallbearers will be Earl
Johnson, Burlen Johnson, Frank
McGraw, Alec Pace, Till Arledge
and George MlcJunken.
Miss Helen Thompson
Mliss Helen Thompson, 16 year
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ar
thur Thompson of Mill Spring
who had been in declining health for
several years, passed awav this
morning at the hospital. Funeral
plans will be announced later. Miss
Thompson is a granddaughter of
County Commissioner E. G. Thomp
son.
