Rogers reports that $199.50 had been received by early Wed .j&nesday morning and that all mem- Jiers of the committee had not been from. The fund on Monday was $37.50. On Tuesday it had grown to $86.50 and on Wednes day $113.00 more was received bringing the total to $199.50. The new contributors are Mrs. Alice F. Orr, Harry Allen, M,r. and Mirs. Julian Ca.'noun, C. P. Rogers, Miss Diana Nash, Chas. H. Conrad, Mrs. Jeannette F. Brown, Thos. L. Elder, Miss B. E. Merrill, Miss Alys M,. Thompson, G. H. Holmes, Mrs. Jefferson Coe, Mrs. Hiarkness Smith. Checks may be sent to Mr. Rogers or to the Blue Ridge Weav ers. Tryon Bank, B. L. Ballenger, Major Sharp or the Bulletin office. Adams-Millis Drops Two Adams-Millis basketball teams went to Saluda on Tuesday night ato play a double-header. The girls list their game to Drayton girls oy a score of 13-21. The boys lost theirs 20 to 38 to the Greer boys’ team. Local girls playing were MicMillan, 0; Cochran, 2; S. Newman, 1; V. Newman, 1; Home, 2; Williams, 7; Ormand, 0; Swain 0. The boys were Holbert, 4; B. Swain, 0; Hines, 2; Page, 0; Rich ey, 3; Arledge, 0; Horne, 2; Ward, 4; Staton, 5. No Rotary There will be no meeting of the Tryon Rotary club on Friday, the joint meeting of Kiwanis and Rotary on Tuesday having taken its place. Rotary-Kiwanis Clubs Have Double Feature The Tryon Rotary and Kiwanis clubs held a joint meeting on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale to hear John C. Baskervill, head of the division of advertising of the North Carolina Department of Conservation and Development. An other feature of the meeting was the visit and speech of Paul P. Harris, of Chicago, the founder of Rotary International. Mr. Harris came to Asheville to parti cipate in Asheville Rotary’s 25th anniversary celebration on Monday night and hearing of the joint meeting in Tryon with Kiwanis came here to meet wth the local Rotarians and Kiwanians. Mr. Harris stated that he was a close friend of Fred Parker, the Ki wanis International secretary, who also has his headquarters in Chi cago. The speaker said that all civic clubs had more or less the same ideals of community service and the development of fellowship among the members and that there should be closer cooperation be tween Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions and othe rorganizations. Mr. Baskerville, one of the press agents of North Carolina, adver tising the resources and attrac tions of the state, said in his speech that more than $100,000,000 was spent in North Carolina last year by tourists and visitors from other states. This amount has jumped from $25,000,000 in 1936 to the pre-ert figures as the result of the state’s advertising campaign.
