C., SATURDAY, FEB. 3, 1940 Polk County Team Victor at Crop Show Greenville, Feb. 2.—The 4-H club team of Polk county and the Future Farmers of America team of Alexander county wori the crop judging contests at the North Carolina crop improvement asso ciation’s show here today. Twenty - one teams entered the crop judging contest for 4-H clubs. The Alexander county group win ning the Future Farmers of Ameri ca contest was the Taylorsville high school team, coached by H. T. Gryder. Talks were made at the associa tion’s meeting by Dr. I. O. Slchaub, director of extension at N. C. State college; W. Kerr Scott, state com missioner of agriculture; S. F. Grubbs, of Virginia Polytechnic institute, and D. S. Coltrane, as sistant to Scott. Dr. Leon Meadows, president of East Carolina Teachers ocllege, made the address tonight at a ban quet for the 4-H and vocational agriculture teams in the college’s dining hall. High scoring individuals in the 4-H contest were: Robert Taylor of Wilson county 608 (out of a possible 700); Bruce Cantrell of Polk county, 593; Clarence Bone of Nash, 582; Clinton Parker of Lincoln, 577; Joe Cline of Cleve land, 570; James D. Barnes of Wilson, 564; Joe Stockton of Polk, 554; Lewis Reep of Lincoln, 551; Billy Rapscott of Alamance, 520; and Jack Fall of Cleveland, 517.
