Sheriff and Mrs. Hines Return
From Raleigh Hospital
Sheriff W. D. Hines and Mrs.
who were injured in an
wuto accident in Raieigh last
\veek, returned home last night
from the Rex hospital in Raleigu,
where they had been receiving
treatment. Mrs. Hines, whose in
juries proved to be more serious
than first thought, was. reported
as not resting so well early Wed
nesday morning. Sheriff Hines
has recovered sufficiently to re
assume part of his duties.
Basketball Tonight
The Tryon high school basketball
team will swing into action again
tonight at 7:30 when Stearns high
of Columbus invades th>3 local
court. The visitors showed excel
lent form in defeating the fast
Shnny View quintet last Friday
night and are anxious to top the
\Tryon players. Try on looked off
|Pn defeating Landrum Tuesday, but
are expected to regain their pre
vious form. The game starts at
7:30 and will be over by 8:30
Everyone is urged to come out and
support the team.
The Tryon line up will be taken
from McFarland, Dutton Beeson
V'ning, Taylor, Melton, Cooksey,
Jackson, Chapman, Ed Beatson,
and Ford. The referee will be
Culler (Appalachian).

The Tryon Parent-Teacher As
sociation will meet on Monday af
ternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the
school auditorium. Dr. C. Arthur
Lincoln will be the speaker.
CURB REPORTER
Left Hendersonville escorted by
police car with siren screaming.
One motorist passed our bus and
got cold feet when he saw the
patrolmen and dashed in between
us. He slowed us up a bit and
the cop had to wave him on ... .
Augusta gave us a royal welcome
at the Bon Air Hotel, a beautiful
place. Mayor James M. Woddall
and State Senator Isaac Peebles
gave greetings of welcome. The
food was good. The orchestra
played “Carolina Moon” in our
honor. Everything was free. Real
hospitality. Harry Gage of the
Augusta Chronicle sat at our table
and entertained us ... . Hickory
gave each of the hosts a souvenir
hickory stick. Mayor Bryson of
Asheville gave the Augusta mayor
a Biltmore homespun suit from
Fred Seely, and a homespun tie
to match from Senator Bacon’s
Tryon homespun. Charlotte group
gave us crackers, popcorn, peanuts,
etc. Asheville gave us each a
beautiful white carnation. The
spirit of fellowship is very de
lightful. John E. Jones of the
Asheville Citizen - Times married
Miss Ruth McFee’s niece and
namesake . . . Mayor Will W.
Edwards of Highlands lived for
eight years in Green Creek and
his step-mother was a Feagan. He
was interested in the Polk Countv
ad in The Bulletin and noted
