Makes Announcement
“At the request of many of the
leading Democrats of our County,
who have urged me by letter, by
petition and in person to announce
my candidacy to succeed myself as
Representative of Polk County in
the State Legislature, I have de
cided, after giving the matter ma
ture consideration, to accede to
their expressed wishes in this im
portant matter, and to make known
my intention of becoming a candi
date for Renresentative in the
Democratic Primary to be held
May 25th, next. I do this with
the sole object in of being
of service to the people of my
County, and of the State at large.
With the experience! gathe/ed in
three terms which I have/ served
in the Legislature, aoid with my
knowledge of conditi< ns /affecting
our County and State y feel that
I am qualified to give w> our peo
ple the representation /in Raleigh
which they desire. ! f eing under
obligation to no im ividuals or
factions, I am in a position to give
undivided service to the citizenship
of our County, and if nominated
and elected, I pledge myself un
reservedly to do this.
