A. Em merman served coffee and cakes. Discussion brought out the value of the Country club to the com munity as a recreation center and as an attraction to visitors and homebuilders. A Concensus of opinion showed that every business house and resident in the commun ity should support the club for its value in helping build the town. A report was made of the annual meeting held last wek at which time the members assessed them selves $lO each to help pay for the visitors lounge, pro work shop and new locker room equipment. It was also voted at the annual meeting to charge an initiation fee of $25 for new members elected after April 1, 1940. The question of requiring hotels and inns to furnish guests with cards was also discussed. Rotary Friday Douglas S. Blois will have charge of the Rotary club program on Friday atlp. m. VOLLMER Basketball Tournament Begins Tonight Columbus, Saluda, Tryon and Green Creek Playing The Polk County Basketball Tournament gets under way to night at 7:30. The first garhe will be played at the Tryon gym with the Columbus girls meeting Green Creek girls in the opening contest. This game will be fol lowed by the boy’s game between , Tryon and Saluda. For “first Wj night” games, these will be top- * notch affairs. Music for the games tonight will be furnished by the Tryon-Saluda band under the di rection of B. I. Lands.
