Vining, Editor $1.50 Year In the Carolinas Vol. 13, Eat. 1-31-28 Judge Clem Jones John M. “Jack” Camp has re turned from Athen, Tenn., where he attended the funeral services of his uncle, Judge Clem Jones, prominent lawyer of that eity. Judge Jones died on Saturday. The Chattanooga Times and the County Bar Association were high in their praise of the Judge who had, been prominent in political affairs of that section of the state. He was 65 years old, a veteran of the Spanish-American war, attorney for the L&N Railroad and the Tennessee Power Co. He was rear ed in Tryon and was a son of the late Rev. Milner Jones, former rector of the Episcopal church here. Kiwanis Thursday The Tryon Kiwanis club will hold an inter-club meeting at Oak Hall hotel on Thursday night at 7:30 with the Rutherfrodton Ki wanis club. The Rutherfordton club will put on the program. Their chief speaker will be Dr. Granberry, president of Limestone college of Gaffney, S. C. Anyone bringing guests should notify Oak Hall or C. J. Lynch, chairman of the house committee. Lecture Free Here On Wednesday The lecture of Dr. Chas E. Barker at the Parish House on Wednesday night at 8 o’clock will be free to the public as a contri bution of the Tryon Rotary club to community service. Everyone in terested in public affairs is invited to attend. TRYON, N C., TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 1940 Polk People Invited To Hear Speaker On Wednesday Dr. Chas. E. Barker, noted lec turer will speak in Tryon Wednes day night at the Parish House at 8 o’clock. All the surrounding com munities of Landrum, Slaluda, Lynn, Columbus, and vicinities throughout the County are invited to her Dr. Barker. The meeting is held under the auspices of the Tryon Rotary club which he will address at noon. He will also speak in the morning to the high school students and any others interested who may not be able to attend the night meeting. Rutherfordton-Tryon Coach Route Is Sought Washington, March 9.—A hear ing will be held in the United States court room at Charlotte April 2 on the application of the Carolina Scenic Coach lines of Spartanburg, S. C., to extend its operations over a route from Rutherfordton to Tryon, N. C., the Interstate Commerce Commis sion announced today.—Charlotte Observer. Real Estate Deal The H. C.
