Eat. 1-31-28 TRYON, N C., FRIDAY MARCH 15, 1940 Tryon High Defeats Waynesville 17 to 12 iMa The Tryon high boys reached the fJjbmi-finals in the Blue Ridge Con *' -Terence Tournament T h ursday night by defeating a husky Way nesville outfit 17 to 12. The local team had trouble getting started and spotted their opponents four points before tallying. By the end of the first quarter the score was tied five all and at the half Tryon led bv three points. From the second half on Waynesville tailed and could never close the gap closer than five points. Tonight (Friday) the Tryon quint meets Canton, one of the most powerful high school squads in this section. They have an impressive record of 22 wins and two losses. Summary: Tryon (17): McFarland, 3; D. Beatson 8; Vining 4; Taylor 0; 2; Chapman 0. Waynesville (12): Henry 0; founts 0; Moore 1; Milner 2; Ledford 0; Mull 2; Knight 7. Dog Show Starts At 2:30 Saturday Captain Rufus Zogbaum, man ager of the ninth annual Any and All Dog Show, states that the show will be held on Saturday af ternoon at Harmon Field as plan ned and that increased interest is being shown not only by local peo ple and visitors but by dog lovers in Spartanburg. Forest Hilton Funeral services for Forest Hil ton, Jr., 39, a former resident of Lynn, who died of a heart attack at the home of his sister, M'rs. Sue Lowe, at Dayton, Ohio, Tues day, March 12th, will be held at Lynn Baptist church on Saturday at 3 o’clock. Surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Daisy Stnith, Tryon; Mrs. Emma Garron, Mrs. Sarah Malone of Hendersonville; Mrs. Mary Ray of College Park, Ga.; Mrs. Inez Gibbs of Roanoke, Va.; and Mrs. Sue Lowe of Dayton, Ohio. Also a brother, Perry Hilton, of Tryon. The body will be at McFarland Funeral Home until time of of funeral.
