Eat. 1-31-28 TRYON, N C., WEDNESDAY, APR. 3, 1940 Bus Firm Seeks, To Extend Lines The interstate commerce com mission Tuesday conducted a hear ing of an application of the Caro lina Scenic Coach Line company of Spartanburg for authority to establish a motor bus line between Rutherfordton, N. C., and Tryon, N. C. The hearing was conducted by W. W. McCaslin, ICC examiner, in the Charlotte, N. C., branch office, according to Associated Press dis patches. The examiner said the showing would be considered for several weeks and a report, with a recom mended decision, would be submit ted to the commission at Wash ington for its action. ~ The Spartanburg bus company >J»hich has extensive lines in this nearby states, is seeking to es tablish service between the two North Carolina cities, with the busses coming in from Rutherford ton connecting with the Spartan burg-Asheville line at Tryon. Hamish Turner, official of the local company, was in Char lotte Tuesday for the hearing. A hearing originally scheduled for Monday in Charlotte in .moves by the Spartanburg company and the Queen City Coach company of Charlotte for authority to es tablish a line to connect Spartan burg and Chimney Rock, N. C., was cancelled, it was stated at the bureau’s district office. After Your Number! The federal census takers all over the nation are out this month to find out all they can about American people and how they live. This information will be used for statistics in various ways, so all of us will know how much we have of this and how many of that, etc. The census takers ap pointed "for Polk County as named in the Asheville Citizen are: Wil liam Dan Ledbetter, Route No. 3, Rutherfordton; Joe Dalton, Mill Spring; Thomas Earl Swain, Cam pobello, S. C.; Roy Edward Ward, Saluda; Bill Bates, Mill faring; Ernest Nelson Leonard, Tryon; John Thomas Coates, Jr., Saluda; and William Woodrow Wilkins, Route No. 1, Chesnee, S. C. Windy Picture Here For Week’s Run “Gone With The Wind”, prob ably the most outstanding motion picture ever produced about the South, will open in Tryon on Thursday morning at 10 a. m. The afternoon performance will start at 2 o’clock and the night show at 8. There will be at least two shows daily every afternoon at 2 o’clock and night at 8 except on Sunday night when showing will start at 9 o’clock. Reserved seats may be purchased for all the night per formances and tickets are on sale now at the theatre. Mkny people who have seen the picture in other cities plan to see it again in Tryon.
