80 People Stopped From
Picking Flowers Here
Justice of the Peace Giles W.
Pearson reports that within the
past two weeks officers have made
21 cases and stopped 80 people
from picking wild flowers near the
public roads in the Tryon-Saluda
section. This road and via Pear
son’s Falls is listed on some maps
for its scenic beauty. Justice Pear
son points out that much of the
floral beauty of the section has al
ready been taken away in cars by
passing motorists and unless citi
zens and property owners cooper
ate they will strip the country.
Mr. Pearson states that the people
of Melrose section want visitors
and want them to enjoy the natur
al beauty of the place but they
also want them to leave that beauty
as it is so when they come again
or send others, it will still be
beautiful.
