BAND WELL RECEIVED
The Tryon-Saluda band gave an
excellent performance Friday night
at the Tryon school auditorium, and
a large crowd turned out to hear
*bhe beginners as well as the more
se&lented members of the band. Sup
erintendent W. A. Sthilletter gave
a. welcome address and band di
rector B. I. Lands told of the
progress of the band. Tryon Ro
tary, Kiwanis and American Le
gion and other friends of music
have contributed to the purchase
of some needed equipment. Any
one interested in promoting a high
school band for this vicinity may
send checks to Mr. Schilletter.
Three towns are now participating
in the band. Columbus has joined
the group with four members.
BASEBALL TODAY
Brevard and Adams-Millis will
play baseball this afternoon in Try
on at Harmon Field. This is ex
pected to be the closest game of
-the season with Adams-Millis fav-
K;ed to win. Time: 3 p. m.
$194.50 FOR RED CROSS
Treasurer J. B. Hester reports
that $194.50 has been received for
relief of the distrssed in Europe.
Since then the Tryon school chil
dren through the Junior Red Cross
have donated $7.21, making a total
of $201.71.
