Compassion for Suffering Millions Polk County’s Red Cross War Relief Fund now amounts to $*1,117.47. This is more than S4OO in excess of the quota; but since, the call for help was issued, the need has more than doubled. James L. Fieser of the National Red Cross writes: “We have com passion for the boys whose bodies must bear the impact of steel in modern warfare. We would seek to carry out traditional mission of helping the victims of war. These are no longer limited to sol diers and sailors. The old, the young, babies in arms, millions of helpless, harmless, distraught and weary dispossessed are added now to the cross of human suffering as they become homeless wanderers. Children with bruised bodies and minds, many lost from their loved ones, others orphaned, totter as if were toward us in America, the last big uninvolved nation of free capable of showing concern thru our charity. To smash the quotas will be notice that we voluntarily ATTENTION VOTERS Realizing that the average voter has little oppor tunity to know anything about our State officers, whose duty keeps them in Raleigh, we wish to call the attention of the public to the record which DAN BONEY, State Commissioner of Insurance, has made during the last four years. We believe that MR. BONEY has made the best Commissioner of Insurance the State has ever had. He has enforced the laws protecting the public without fear or favor. MR.
