Est. 1-31-28 Boy Scout Staff Completed Here %The staff of the Piedmont Boy Scout Camp have all arrived at Lake Lanier and are busy putting the camp in the best possible con dition for the opening of the 1940 season which, according to the Camp Director, is expected to be the record for the past 16 years. The staff this summer includes R. M. Schiele, Camp Director; A. C. Warlick, Jr., Assistant Camp Director; Mlrs. R. M. SchieSi; dieltitian; Tracy Ljamar, Jr., waterfront director; Wert Rhyne, Jr., and Bruce W'arlick, assistant waterfront directors; Dr. W. H l . Bandy, camp physician; James All ran, naturalist; B. C. Morrow, range officer; Charles O’Kelly, athletic officer; Winston Timber lake, Scoutmaster of the camp service troop; Charlton Howard, assistant Scoutmaster; M: a x home. Jack Edwards, Thomas T&llison, Ben Warren and Fred ' 'Edwards, craft instructors; Walter Barnes, Jr., camp secretary; Dav id Yoder, officer director. The camp will open with the an nual Leaders’ Conference on Sat urday, June 15th, with supper at 7 p. m., which will run through noon dinner on Sunday. Judge _ Capps of Gastonia, president of the Council, will conduct devotional services on Sunday morning. The first Scout Troops will ar rive Monday morning and they will include Troop 1 of Tryon, Troon 1 of Valdese, Troop 1 of Avondale, Troop 5 of Shelby, Troop 1 of Boiling Springs, Troop 3 of Morganton, Troop 1 of Belmont and the Camp Service Troop. C. t THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 1910 Gray—Beck The wedding of Miss Katharine Lister Beck and Mr. William Wet more Gray was solemnized on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Church of the' Holy Cross in Tryon. The ceremony was per formed by the rector, the Rev. Mr. Charles L. McGavern. The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Mrs. Herbert Beck. The church was attractively decorated by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crandall in ivy, blue delphenium, white gladioli and Easter lilies. Mrs. John Ferguson of Spar tanburg, a friend of the bride and groom, was the organist. The Swedish Wedding March by Soder man and the Norwegian Wedding M,arch by Grieg were played. The bride wore a dephenium blue coat suit with a panel of white on the coat embroidered in blue. Her corsage was of white orchids and blue delphenium. She was attended by her sisters. Miss Margaret Beck as maid ot‘ honor wore a costume of flowered silk jersey print. IVTiss Gertrude Beck as bridesmaid was also in a flowered silk jersey print. Both wore picture hats and carried bouquets of white sweet peas and delnhenium. M,r. John Gray of Charlotte brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The ushers were Broadus Bal lenger, John St. Blackwell, Harnld Crandall and Waverly Hester. The ushers, best man and bridegroom wore white suits and blue ties, and had boutennieres of gardenias and blue delnhenium.
