Est. 1-31-28 Enjoy Picnic The members of Erskine Con gregational . church and their fiends enjoyed their annual picnic on Wednesday afternoon and eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Erskine on Harmon Field Road. Following the pic nic supper various groups played croquet and horse shoe pitching. Afterwards a musical program led by Louis Bunte of Spartanburg was enjoyed. Mir. Bunte sang sev eral solos; a quartet composed of Miss Lois Avant, Miss Peggy Lin coln, Eugene Turner and Frank Turner gave several selections. Qroup singing with participating was led by M!r. Bunte. Miss Rachel Jackson was the accom panist. Breaks Leg Zackie Laughter, two-year-old .son of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Laugh of Tryon Route One, is in St. lake’s hospital for treatment of his fractured right leg suffered on Tuesday evening. Golf Tournament The Shelby Golf team will come to Tryon on Thursday afternoon for a tournament with the Tryon Golf team at the Tryon Country Club. All players are expected out to welcome the visitors. Mrs. Frieda Arledge, identifica tion officer at Columbus, states that all persons desiring finger prints for identification purposes to be filed with the Civil Identifi cation Bureau in Washington, D. C., can be finger printed at the jail in Columbus. $1.50 Year In the Carolinas TRYON, N. C., WED., All-Kiwanis Week Observed Here Kiwanians will observe All-Ki wanis Week, June 16-22, joining with the 2,089 other Kiwanis clubs in the United States and Canada in a continent-wide observance stressing twenty-five years of ser vice achievement. Kiwanis was founded in Detroit on January 21, 1915, and during this silver anniversary year special attention is concentrated on com munity service results, according to J. A. Wilson, Club president, today. “Our local members are joining with the 110,000 Kiwanians all over the U. S. and Canada to observe this All-Kiwanis Week." he said. The local Club received a special message from Bennett O. Knudson, of Albert Lea. Minnesota, president of Kiwanis International, which was read by Hovt O. Prince at the meeting on Tuesday. The principal discussion of the meeting was centered around the value of Kiwanis education for the entire club membership. The club took a pledge rededicating it self to the observance of Kiwanis orinciples, stressing the building of better communities, promotion of natriotic citizenship and emphasiz ing the value of enduring friend ships. Brooks at Rotary Prof. James Brooks of Landrum will be the guest speaker at the Tryon Rotary Club on Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale Lof* Cabin.
