C., MONDAY, JUNE 24, 1940 ADAMS-MILLIS DEFEATS BEACON SATURDAY The Adams-Millis baseball team climbed into second place on Sat urday in the Western North Carolina Industrial League by defeating Beacon Mills 3 to 2 in a ten inning struggle which was tied up to 2 and 2 for six innings, until Tryon won victory in the 10th. Ward and Arledge formed the battery fop the locals. Bryant, Rhymer and Nichols, Burrel, for the visitors. Age-Old Social at Baptist Church on Tuesday The Business Women’s Circle of the Tryon First Baptist church will hold an old-fashion social on Tuesday at 8 p. m., at the church. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited. From, each one present a collection will be taken amounting to one cent for each year of his or her life. KIWANIS TUESDAY R. H. Brady will be in charge of the Tryon Kiwanis program on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon. Consolidate Routes United States Rural Miail Tryon Route One and Mill Spring Route 3 will be consolidated on August 1 with Broadus B Flynn taking both routes at a salary of $2,320 per year. The government will save about $1,200 a year as Carrier Edwin Wilson and Carrier Flynn are each receiving SI,BOO a year. The Route will be known as Try on Route 1.
