C., Health Program Outlined At Rotary Club Dr. Austin Woody had charge of the Tryon Rotary club program on Friday at 1 p. m-, at Sunnydale-. Miss Irene Clarke, county nurse., was the guest .speiker. She gave an interesting outline of the pro gress of public health work in Polk County. This work is tied up with the Rutherford-Polk unit and gives the county the services of a county doctor and three county nurses. The health program includes ma ternity welfare, pre-natal exam inations, tuberculosis tests, labo ratory tests, clinics for venereal diseases, crippled children, distribu tion of health education material and general instruction, on improv ing public and personal health, the examination of handlers of food and inspection of eating places. The services of the health pro gram are many and the work of the county organization stands out in the State program. The roads in the county have been improve 1 to speed up the work but the lack of telephones in most of the county is a terrible handicap in emergen-- cies when a doctor is needed.
