MISS HARRIET FASSETT
News has been received in Try
on of the death of Miss Harriet
Fassett at Portland, Maine, on
Thursday, July 4th, after several
weeks illness. Miss Fassett and
her sister, Miss Mima Fassett,
have maintained a home in Tryon
for about 17 years. The deceased
is survived by a brother, Fred
Fassett, of the Boston Transcript
and one sister, Miss Mima Fassett,
of Tryon and Portland.
Tryon High School
Defeats Bushwhackers
The Tryon high school softball
team defeated the Bushwhackers
on Wednesday by a score of 26 to 7.
The Bushwhackers were badly
handicapped by the absence of sev
eral of their players.
Golf Tournament Now On
At Country Club
The tournament for the posses
sion of the Director’s Trophy is
being staged this weekend at the
Tryon Country Club. It is an 18
hole handicap event. All those de
siring to enter the tournament
should get lined up today or Sat
urday. Play can be finished on
Sunday.
Golfers At Lake Lure
On Sunday Afternoon
The Tryon Country Club Golf
Team will go to Lake Lure on
Sundav afternoon to compete with
the Lake Lure Country Club Golf
team in a Piedmont League tourna
ment. All those 1 desiring to make
the trip should notify Larry Brooks
in order to arrange for transpor
tation, caddies, etc.
