Est. 1-31-28 Rotary Club Reviews Its Community Work In taking over the gavel as the new president of the Tryon Rotary I Club, President B. G. Henry on Friday outlined the functions of a Rotary Club and the opportunities of the Tryon Club for community service. He called for suggestions from anyone desiring to promote the work of the club. A financial report by secretary-treasurer, W. E. Kilpin showed achievements in community service and the parti cipation of the Tryon Club in the work of Rotary International by resolutions and inter-club meetings. Among the many items of com munity service noted were cash donated to the Garden Club Com munity Clean-Up Program, the purchase of traffic patrol safety equipment and the inauguration of high school student, patrols to di rect small children across the street intersections at the close of each school session, the purchase kof over SBO worth of equipment for "the Tryon-Saluda high school band, the purchase of milk and cod liver oil for undernourished school chil dren at Lynn, the donation of SSOO for manual training equipment for Tryon high school and in many other ways showed an active inter est in the community by sponsoring worthwhile projects, inviting the school band, the Boy Scouts and others to enjoy Rotary food and fellowship. - MRS.
