Saunders of Elizabeth City, noted newspaper and magazine writer, was a caller at the Bulletin office on Tuesday. M'r. Saunders is publicity director for the State Highway Safety program which is endeavoring to reduce ths number of deaths and injuries caused by motor accidents in North Carolina. Mr. Saunders states that last year there were 943 people killed and 7,190 injured in motor accidents in North Carolina. He states that if a dreaded disease had taken that many lives and injured that many people the whole state would be up in arms to do something about it. As it is so many motorists seem unconcerned about the affair. His job is to try to awaken the people of the state to this menace which is doing more than disease or war to kill our people.
