"Xieavenworth, Kansas, gave a very interesting talk on the importance of) National defense at the Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m. Colonel Bowley believes in thorough pre paredness under the direction of the men who know the needs and reme dies. He believes that if the prop er support is given the defense pro gram the United States can meet any emergency. Julian B. Hester will be in charge of the program next week. On Monday the Rotary district as sembly will meet at Caesar’s Head. Dr. G. S. Cook of Tabor City, N. C., and Dr. F. B. Quincy of Williamson, W. Va.., who are at tending the Saluda Seminar, made up their attendance at Tryon Rotary. ffltBLE SCHOOL CLOSES • The Mtethodist-Presbyterian Va cation Bible School closed its two weeks session on Friday with a picnic at Harmon Field. The school was held at the Presbyterian church and had an enrollment of 42 pupils. The Rev. D. M. Mc- Geachy was superintendent. The teachers were Mrs. G. Mi. Ferree, Misses Ruby Williams, Ruth Creas man, Mildred Fite, Elizabeth Thackston, Hope Schilletter and Gelolo Iris Kell. KIWANIS TUESDAY C. M.
