Under the direction of Mrs.

fon, and Mrs. H. P. Locke, Sr., the

a unit under M;rs. Q. C.
Sonner, Saluda’s chairman, Ameri
can Red Cross, and are making
sweaters, hospital gowns, and oth
er Red Cross necessities.
The Fairview unrt includes, in
addition to the three leaders men
tioned above: Miss Rosa M. Box,
Miss C. C. Simons, Miss Mabel
Smith, Miss Georgia Reid, Mrs.
D. P. Edgerton, Mrs. Gladys Hib
bett, Miss Archie Clark, Mrs. Re
becca Tabor, Miss Alice Smith,
Miss MSary Sawyer, Mrs. Richard
Manning, Mfrs. May Wickenberg,
Miss Martin and Miss Beard of
Sunshine Shanty.
Also, under the leadership of
Mrs. Frances Fowler, the mem
bers of this Fairview unit, Saluda
Red Cross Branch, have collected
enough clothing and other* necessi
ties to fill a large box which will
be sent to the English speaking
union for its use in meeting the
needs of English sufferers.
Golf At Forest City
The Tryon Country Club Golf
Team will go to Forest City on
Thursday afternoon for a Pied
mont Association tournament.
Those desiring to make the trip
are requested to report to Pro
Larry Brooks.
REUNION
The Jackson family reunion will
be held on Sunday at Harmon
Field. Relatives from adjoining
states are expected to join these
in Polk County for this annual
event.

IN SOFTBALL GAME
The high school def eated Soumer.
co 7. to 5 on Tuesday afternoon at
Harmon Field. The high school
took a three run lead in the* first
inning and never was headed.
The high school will play Land
rum tonight at 6:30, taking the
place of Adams-Mjllis, which team
has withdrawn from the league.
This game will be played at Har
mon Field. Come out and root for
your favorite team. No admission.
Boys’ Club Enjoy Trip
To Overnight Camp
The Tryon Boys’ Club, five
carloads of them went on an over
night trip to Turkey Oak at Green
River on Tuesday night where they
cooked and went in swimming and
had a good old fashioned outing.

Crisson Infant Rites
Funeral services will be con
ducted this afternoon at 5 o’clock
at the St. John’s Catholic church
for Betty Jo Crisson, 2-year-old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde
Crisson of Tryon, Route 1. Inter
ment will be in the Tryon cemetery.
The child died around 9 o’clock
Tuesday night at the home of its
parents after several weeks ill
ness. The parents and one small
sister survive.
