CURB REPORTER The Lefty Flynns write from Cape Cod, Mass., that they are longing for Tryon, to see their friends and get a glimpse of Hog back Mountain. Everyone seems to be knitting for the war refugees. They report having a good time at the beach and all’s well . . . Italians and Germans getting ready for a mass attack on England according to reports .... Paving of the new highway stretch from the South Carolina line has already passed Sunnydale entrance on the second strip, and should be fin ished. this week if weather per mits .... A copy of the Minne apolis Tribune just received, prob ably through courtesy of George Cathey who is up there on a visit. . . The W. E. Kilpins have moved over into Canada for a visit with Mrs. Jarvis . . . Mjrs. J. H. Perkins has moved up to her Massachusetts home from Green wich .• • Henry Shankle, Jr., is back at Portland, Oregon, after studying at the University at Eugene. He will operate his own printing plant this winter . • .A1 Smith has bolted the Democratic party again and says he’ll work for Willkie . . . The British plan to blockade Sfcain and Portugal on goods going to British enemies . . . Mr. and Mrs. David Windsor are scheduled to leave Portugal on Thursday for New York. Mr. Wind sor will be the governor of the Bahamas, off the Florida coast . . . The South American countries and the U. S. have signed an agree ment to help keep the Americas saf for democracy, etc. . . . Edgar Ballew has returned home after spending July in Ohio. He was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. /Jack Grix of Akron, who are spending their vacation with rela tives in Tryon.
