Schools Open Monday, Sept. 2 | Three New Teachers. * The Tryon District Schools will open for the 1940-41 session on Monday, September 2nd, at 9 o’clock. On this day all pupils en tering school are asked to report to their respective class rooms. They will march from there to the auditorium for a short opening ex ercise. All patrons are invited to attend these exercises. After the program, the pupils will return to their class rooms to receive a schedule of work, book list, lesson assignments and other necessary instructions. Pupils entering these schools for the first time, except First errade pupils, are asked to please regis ter at the Superintendent’s office for classification on Friday, Aug. 30, between the hours of 9 and 12 o’clock. All oupils should be classi |fied and assigned to grades before f school opens. The faculty will have n w teachers. Miss Sue Burr Johnson of Skyland, N. C.. as r of the First grade. Miss Johnson has taught in some of the best North Carolina schools fo~ ter' Miss Mary E. Gamble of Wallace, N. C., as teacher of the Sixth grade. Miss Gamble has e l ‘° , M years experience as teacher in two of the most progressive schools in North Carolina. M&ss Alice Lee Williams of Newton Grove, N. C. Miss Williams has taught for ten years in some of the leading schools of North Carolina. A complete shop of manual train ing equipment has been installed readv for use. Bobbitt of Char lotte will preside at the Fall term of the Polk County Superior Court opening Monday at Columbus. Ac cording to Clerk of Court Robert S. McFarland, the docket for the criminal, or first week of the tribunal is the lightest in the past several years, and the full week is not expected to be required to complete trials. The hearings of Civil Actions are expected to be gin immediately following the ad ournment of the criminal court.
