A government inspector spent the day here looking for new quarters to lease as a post office. The excellent service rendered by Postmaster Cooper and his staff deserves a more modern arrange ment. The story arrives rather late about the calamity that took place in Henderson county, about two miles from Saluda la it Friday. A mad dog went on a rampage, biting between 15 and 20 other animals, mostly livestock. The dog was killed and his head sent to Raleigh for examination. To day a report arrived verifying that the dog actually had rabies. The bitten animals are having to be shot. Six were bitten at one man’s place. HERE AND THERE: Miss Hattie McCullough who teaches at Inman is staying with Mrs. Hopkins at The Pines for several weeks. M'iss Rachel Snell has returned to her home in Charleston. Mrs. J. G. Michael has return ed home from the hospital where she had he r tonsils removed. Mrs. Mary Dell Johnson and daughter, Brooke, are spending the day in Asheville. Mrs. G. E. Kirbv spent vester day in Hendersonville with her son Louis. Mrs. Pidgeon, Mrs. Helen Ro binson, Mrs. Johnson and Miss Mary Johnson visited Bat Cave and Chimney Rock on Tuesday.
