rieavy rains has again flooded
the mounain section around Ashe
ville. Marshall was the hardest
hit. The French Broad river rose
six feet into the city streets, wash
ed away a two story building, tore
up the railroad track, disrupted
the telephone and telegraph lines.
Six or more persons are missing.
Waynesville depot, one of the
highest in altitude on the Southern
railway, was in three feet of water.
600 Waynesville people were
driven from their homes by the
rising water. Four feet of water
flowed through the main street of
Canton. The Enka company esti
mates $600,000 damage to thier
property.

eral weeks at the Abernathy house
in the Hunting country. They have
