ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON, N. C. UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 3, 1879 ®lje ®rgmt Batl|i (The World’s Smallest Daily Newspaper) PER COPY Seth M. Vining, Editor Vol. 13. Est. 1-31-28 From London Thinking readers of the Bulle tin might be interested, W. H. Burtenshaw, of Tryon, has given tus the following letter, received by a relative in New York whose brother has been in London for several years and now resides near Buckingham Palace which has late ly been bombed: London —Sept. 2, 1940. We are now in the midst of the raids on London —days not too good—and nights most hectic, and I am quite sure they will get quite a bit worse before they get better. However, the R. A. F. have been absolutely superb—perfectly mar velous—and none of us here have the slightest doubt as to the ulti mate outcome. Up t 0 now they have sent planes over here in such quantities as six hundred to eight hundred and each time they have gone back damn well crippled. They, of course, come over in f waves of one hundred to one hun dred fifty, but sometimes eight hundred are employed in all and each time these wonderful British pilots meet them, and send them back with losses of at least four to one. I don’t know what figures you are getting, but you can take it as absolutely gospel truth (and I know of what I am talking) that the Htuns ar e losing easily four times as many planes as we are here—any other figures are per fect lies. IVfv present purpose in writing this letter is t 0 tell you all not to worry about me. I am abso lutely safe and secure.
