TRYON, N C., THURSDAY, SEPT. 19, 1940 Mrs. Hattie Alverson Swain Mrs. Hattie Alverson Shvain, 83, widow of the late J. J. Swain, well-known citizen of the North Pacolet community, died today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. K. O. Huskey, at North Pacolet. Ftineral services will be held on Friday at 3 p. m., at North Paco let Baptist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Sprinkle, assisted by Rev. J. L. Painter, and Rev. R. A. Ellis. The body will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. ML Harris, at Campobello until 5 p. m.j today and then will be at the church where the ser vices will be held, from 2 to 3 p.m. Mrs._ Swain was the daughter of the late Benjamin and SWlie Alverson. She was a charter member and teacher of the chil dren’s clas s of the North Pacolet Baptist church. > She is survived T)y one son, W. F. Swain of North Pacolet, and six daughters, Mrs. H. H. Ballen ger of Spartanburg, Mrs. W. E. Stroud of Greer, Mrs. K. O. Huskey of North Pacolet, Mrs. Hoyt. 6. Prince of Landrum and Mrs. M. M. Harris of Campobello. SOFTBALL Soumerco eliminated the Land rum Brown s 4-3 on Wednesday. Now the Bushwhackers will play Soumerco for three out of five games for the championship begin ning today. Baker At Rotary James M. Baker will be in charge of the Tryon Rotary Club program Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale Log Cabin.
