In writing up the opening of the recreation park near the railway station the Bulletin said the Gar club landscaped the place, was an error. The Innkeepers should have had the credit. They are the ones who conceived the idea of turning an eyesore into a spot of beauty. Then they gave teas and solicited money to pay for the work. E. G. Vollmer do nated much of the shrubbery and flowers. A large number of people turned out on Monday afternoon to enjoy the sport of archery in park. Mr. and Mrs. George A. Cathey and their clerical staff made a visit to the Cherokee In dian reservation to get first hand information on the right kinds of arrows and bows, and on how to use them. Morris and Mrs. Morgan -firris will be hostesses this ev 'sSflng at the joint meeting of the Mollie Morris circle and the Chris tian Service group at the Metho dist church at 8 o’clock. Softball Today at 5:30 The Bushwhackesr defeated the Soumerco team 9-8 fin softball championship game Mondav after noon at Harmon Field. The sec ond game will be played this after noon at 5:30. C., To Beautify Roadsides A central committee headed by C. J. Lynch and representing va rious civic organizations, met on Monday to make plans for beau tifying the highway approaches within the town limits. The com mittee is now investigating the cost of the work. The Town of Tryon was represented by C. H. Helms, the Rotary club by John L. Brown, Garden club by Mrs. Tom Costa and Mtrs. Raymond Dodge, the Chamber of Commerce by K. A. Bowen, and the Kiwanis club by Tom Costa. The Perkins Cotton Patch was represented in the Western Caro lina Fair, Hendersonville last week and won a first prize blue ribbon for two pens of turkeys. One pen had three white Harllon turkeys and the other three Mammouth bronze turkeys. Two blues and a red ribbon were won for best dis play of Southern Beauty variety of com. Dr. Anetta MbGuffin and hus band Dr. D. W. McGuffin have re turned to Long Beach, Calif, af ter a visit with Dr. Anetta’s great aunt, Mrs. Henry Acker. Real Estate Deals Ellis Ravan has purchased the J. C. Suddeth place, near Tryon, in Glassy Mt. section of Green ville county. Tract contains about 90 acres. Rev. Malcolm Ross has bought from Ray Walker the concrete house near Mill Spring. Mrs. Clyde Shuman of Char lotte has purchased the Malcolm Ross home on Asheville highway.
