B. DcCHARME Charles B. DuCharme, promi nent Tryon and Detroit financier, died Saturday evening of a heart attack in his hotel room in Bos ton, Mass., where he had gone fol qilowing attendance at the Michi- football game. The body was sent to Detroit where funeral services will be held. Mr. DuCharme came to Tryon last week with Mrs. DuCharme, who came to stay several weeks. The deceased is survived by his wife and three children, Charles, «h\, Jerome, and Mrs. George Brannon, the latter of Tryon. Mr. Du- Charme built his home on Esta brook Hill in Tryon, about ten years ago, and had spent part of each year here ever since. Johnson Appointed To Raise Democats Money Dick Reynolds, Chairman of the National Democratic Finance com mittee for North Carolina, with oheadquarters0 headquarters in the Sir Walter Hjotel, Raleigh, has announced the appointment of James E. Johnson as local chairman of the Roose velt - Wallace Campaign Fund Committee. Mr. Johnson will be in charge, under the sponsorship of the Young Democratic Club’s State President, Ralph Gardner, of dis tributing pads of receipts for contributions. The third session of the Inter- Church Training School will meet Tuesday night at 7:30 in the First Baptist church, Tryon, with the Rev. Mr. Stroud of Landrum lead ing the devotions. Dr. Sewall will give his third lecture, this time on that most beloved of New Testa ir.cn 1 Books, The Gospel according to St. John. He will take up the question of authorship, time of writing and contents and the in teresting point as to whom this book was intended for. Dr. Taylor will discuss the Gospel of Love also, as it is shown in the Old Testament in the Book of Hosea. New members or people who can not attend all lectures are invited to come for this one or any o f hers which they may find it possible to attend, though the registration fee, being so small, is the same. Regular registrants are reminded th*t to qualify for the Certificate they must have an attendance of six out of the eight sessions.
