Draft Board Organized The Polk Countv Draft Board met on Thursday morning at the Tryon Pank & Trust Co., office and elected Julian B. Hester as chairman: and St L. Feagan, sec retary. No actoin was taken on the appointment of a permanent clerk, the only position that pays any rennmeration. Temporary quarters will be maintained at the bank until a suitable location is found. B. Flynn of Tryon. In speak ing of a noted group meeting the artic e says: “Joyce Grenfell was there too. She helps in the can teen and is a great friend of Myra Hess’s. She is a niece of Lord Astor and" a star on her own account. She made her reputation overnight, as it were, in Herbert Farjeon’s ‘Little Review’. And that’s quite an interesting story. For Mr. Farjeon saw her enter taining some friends at a private house, and then and theme asked her to come into his review—which, after some hesitation, she did.” Tryon House Honored By House Beautiful Magazine Russell Walcott and Shannon Merri wether, Tryon architects, have just received a $59 check from the House Beautiful maga zine in its 13th annual awards to designers and architects of at tractive new homes. The house receiving tne nonorabie mention is that of Miss Ellen Holt and Miss Elizabeth Webster which is located in the Overlook section of Gillette Woods. The contest was nation wide and included three other prize winning houses one in San Francisco, Boston and Philadel phia.
