ROTARY GOVERNOR
COMING FRIDAY
J. E. Timberlake, a member of
the Rotary Club of Columbia, S.
will attend the meeting of the
Club of Tryon on Friday,
November Ist, in his official capa
city of Governor of this Rotary
district.
He will meet with President B.
G. Henry, Secretary W. E. Kil
pin, and the other officers and mem
bers of the Rotary Club of Tryon
to consult with them and advise
on matters relating to club ad
ministration and Rotary service
activities.
He was a Rotary delegate to
International Convention which
was held in Havana, Cuba, during
June, and will continue to serve
until the 1941 convention in Den
ver.
The 5,000 Rotary Clubs of more
than 60 countries of the world are
grouped into 149 districts. The
190th District, of which the Rotary
Ciub of Tryon is a part, consists of
clubs located in cities of North
Tmd South Carolina, and has a
membership of approximately 2,000
Rotarians.

Missildine this morning stated that
all parents and school teachers
should caution children against
marring property, removing signs
or otherwise causing loss or dam
age on Thursday—Hallowe’en. He
urges everyone to have a good
time with fun and jokes, but warns

Club on Hallowe’en.
1. Each couple is asked to
bring a basket (or box) contain
ing food for two, paper plates and
napkins.
2. Those coming singly are to
bring a basket with food for one.
3 All tickets are numbered and
must be kept intact for the draw
ing for the “Door Prize.”
4. Costumes are not essential
but those who wish may wear any
thing suggestive of an old fash
ioned country dance.
The drawing for partners and
baskets will be held at 7 p. m., and
it is important that guests arrive
at 6:30. Those who do not wish
to bring food may come later for
the floor show and dancing. Tick
ets will be on sale at the door.
There is plenty of parking space
and Chief Kiser will keep guard
against any Hallowe’en prank
sters. Coffee will be served at
5c per cup. Tickets are now on
sale at Missildine’s. Make up
your supper party now and come
to the school gymnasium. Your
50c will help send the Tryon—Polk
County Mbbile Canteen to Eng
land.
Hallowe’en At Saluda
Saluda Hallowe’en Carnival will
be held on Friday, Nov. 1, at 1:30
p. m., and at 7 p. m. There will
be ten different booths, floor show,
witches’ dance, movie, wheel of
fortune, refreshments. Fun for
all the family.
