Prof, and Mrs. James Brooks
a few days ago since returned
from a ten-day auto trip to Mobile,
Ala., where they visited their
daughter, whose husband, E. H.
Hopson is a supervising engineer
on the vehicular tunnel now be
ing constructed under Mobile Bay.
They also visited their son and
his family in Atlanta enroute.
A daughter was bom on Friday
afternoon at St. Luke’s hospital to
Mr. and Mrs. George Comer.
Tryon received about two and
a third inches of rain during
Thursday night and Friday, ac
cording to Observer W. W. Creas
man.
The Men’s Civic Club of Land
rum on Thursday evening resolved
itself into a committee to Defend
America By Aiding the Allies in
line with the William Allen White
movement and a majority of the
members present agreed to write
postals to their State Congressmen
urging all possible aid to Britain
short of war. In a brief talk on
“Why I Am NOT an Isolationist”
Prof. James Brooks brought the
matter to the attention of the club
and their response was spontaneous
