PIEDMONT BOY SCOUT
BOARD TO MEET
Shelby, N. C., Dec. 3.—The
_ Executive Board of the Piedmont
y’puncil of the Boy Stouts of
imerica consisting of the Counties
of Alexander, Burke, CaldJwiell,
Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Ire
dell, Lincoln, McDowell, Polk and
Rutherford will meet at the club
dining room of the Hotel Charles
here on Monday night, December
9th, at 7:15 o’clock for a supper
meeting and to receive reports on
the work of the various committees
of the Council. In line with the
National program of Scouting to
strengthen and invigorate demo
cracracy through a program of
training, the Piedimont Council
has recently launched the most
comprehensive program of or
ganization and extension ever at
tempted bv the organizaion. The
plan includes a Council-wide sur
vey of a'l boys of Scout and Cub
age and an intensive program of
imltivation of churches, schools
civic groups in sponsoring Cub
Scout units and in providing
’eadershm so that everv possible
boy desiring to be a Cub or a
c may have the character
building and citizenship training
program of the movement.
In addition to routine work,
plans will be made for the annual
mpptT'* and banouet for the Pied
mont Council which is normally
held during the middle of Janu
ary and brings together more
than 300 outstanding citizens of
eleven counties in the interest of
boyhood.
