Est. 1-31-28 British War Relief In spite of the inordinate de mands that the Christmas holidays "wave made upon their time, the Volunteer workers at the Tryon workship have not ceased in their efforts to aid Britain’s homeless. Work has been going on steadily since the workrooms opened on October 28 and with the coming year presenting more insistent demands, it is safe to assume that the pace will be greatly acceler ated. The burden thus far, is falling upon a small, loyal group who have continually sacrificed their time in making garments for women and children and repairing used clothing. Additional work ers will soon be neded to share in these activities and it is to be hoped that more women will pledge their aid. Knitted sweat ers and scarfs are still desperate ly needed and there is a large of wool on hand for those B r ho have the leisure to do the at home. > Since the opening of the work -rooms, the following articles have been sent to New York for ship ment to Britain: 713 Used Garments. 88 Nt v Woolen Blankets. 40 Knitted Garments. 43 New Nightgowns. The total weight of these ar ticles was 1,898 pounds. The to total hours of work involved, 799. United States expected to build ships for British. Some observers think Germany and Russia to clash soon.
