A meeting of the Tryon mer
chants was held on Wednesday
night for the purpose of forming
an organization to promote the
trading interests of the commu
nity and to co-operate with one
another in solving a number of
community problems including
parking space, advertising, urging
of employers to use local labor
as much as possible, to encourage
trading with home merchants in
order to do better things for the
community and section and to
work together to bring to the
buying public all those things
needed at prices favorable with
those in the larger cities.
The association elected R. E.
Brantley as president; Fred E.
Swann, vice-president; R. S. Jack
son, secretary-treasurer; and as
additional directors L. F. Buch
anan, P. L. Barnette, H. L. Ar
ledge and B. L. Ballenger

The Christmas holidays arc at
a close and basketball will begin
with the opening of school, in
some cases games will be played
this week. Both Green’s Creek
and Saluda have games for Jan.
3rd. Green’s Creek entertains Har
ris high while Saluda goes to
Campobello.
Most of the schools have yet
to send in their schedules and in
formation about their players.
Tho unable to get the Tryon
schedule, here is some information
about the players. Tryon has only
one team and that is the boys.
