Kilpin of Tryon, was Jhstalled as eminent commander ""of Cyrene • commandery No. 5, Knights Templar, at the organiza tion’s January conclave at the Masonic temple Friday night in Asheville. Howard G. Etheridge, past grand commander, was in charge of the ceremonies and was assist ed by John Foreman, grand sword bearer of the grand commandery of North Carolina. Other officers installed were:. E. Wallace Smith, generalissimo; W. Kelly Roberts, captain general; the Rev. W. C. Cravner, prelate; A. P. Lawrence, treasurer; C. C. Ricker, recorder; A. M. Tingle, senior warden; W. F. Krickhan, junior warden; R. J. Johnson, standard-bearer; L. A. Renison, sword-bearer; L. Y. Biggerstaff, and J. T. DeYoung sen tinel. WPA Approves Road Projects In Polk County Raleigh, Jan. 3.—Six projects calling for the improvement of highways were among 10 new re lief jobs approved today by C. C. McGinnis, WPA state v administra tor. ' The road projects are: Ashe county, $53,038 and 96 workers; Moore and Lee counties, $157,311 and 602 workers; Polk county $9,333 and 94 workers; Mecklen burg county $52,067 and 297 work ers; Rowan and Cabarrus coun ties, $128,606' and 415 workers.
