C„ TUESDAY, JAN. 14, 1941 Riding & Hunt Club Elects Officers; Makes Plans (Horse Show, Week Later) At the annual Sheeting of the gfTryon Riding & Hunt Club on S'aturday night at the Fox and Hound Room of Pine Crest Inn the following officers were elected for the new year: President, Carter P. Brown; vice-president and Treasurer, Chas. J. Lynch; secretary, George D. Wick, Jr.; ■iew directors, Ml B. Flynn, Ernst Mahler, Sam Bingham, Sr. Mr. Wick, who recently return ed to Tryon to make his home after an absence of over ten years in the north and east, was one of the original founders of the Try on Horse Show and of the Riding & Hunt Club. The schedule of events for the 1941 season was announced as follows: March 15th, Saturday, 3 p. m., Lat Harmon Field, ALL DOG show Capt. Rufus F. Zogbaum,* chairman. March 19th, Wed., 2:30 p. m., Hunter Trials, at the “ßarnacleâ€~, old LeMorte place; M. B. Flynn, chairman. Mlarch 22nd, Saturday, 3 p. m., Gymkhana at Harmon Field; Sam Bingham, Sr., chairman. March 27th, Thursday, 3 p. m., Junior Horsemanship Show at Junior Horsemanship Ring on Newmarket Road; Mrs. David Hjedekin and Miss Tony Wick, co-chairmen. April 23rd, Wednesday, Horse and Hound Shows at Harmon Field; Carter P. Brown, general Continued on Back Page Dr. Allen Jervey, Jr., Called To Army Service Dr. Allen Jervey, Jr., of Tryon who has been acting health officer of the Rutherford-Polk health district has been called to active service in the U. SI Army. The definite date for him to report has not been given, but he has been ordered to be ready when the call comes. Dr. Jervey, succeeded Dr. H. C. Whims who resigned last summer. The new head of the Rutherford- Polk district is Dr. Herbert A. Hudgins of Winston-Salem, who will make his home in Ruther fordton. Dr. Hudgins attended Duke and Emory universities, was an interne at Grady hospital, At lanta, afterwards was resident physician at Steiner Cancer clinic in Atlanta. He has practiced medicine in Winston-Salem, was director of venereal disease con trol, served in the Hyde-Tyrell counties health department and the school of public health at the University of N. C., Chapel Hill. Episcopal Annual Meeting At Parish House Tonight The annual meeting and dinner of the Parish of the Holy Cross Episcopal church will be held to night at 7 o’clock. All members and friends of the church are in vited. Methodist Brotherhood Meets Tonight At 7 The Brotherhood of the Metho dist church will meet tonight at 7 o’clock. The chief speaker will be C. J. Lynch.
