Capture Whiskey
A six - mile chase
early Sunday morning by High
way Patrolman Robert Miller and
Policeman Donald Flynn of Tryon
ended in a little-travelled road off
the main Ashevilel - Spartanburg
highway above Melrose, with the
officers in possession of a 1939
eight-cylindered sedan, 120 gal
lons of contraband whiskey, two
men and their woman companion.
The chase was started from the
intersection of the Rutherford-
Asheville highway in the Tryon
city limits about 4 o’clock, and
ended only when the patrol car
closed in on the liquor-laden
machine on the road above Me 1 rose.
The occupants of the machine
were listed at the county jail
where they were placed to await
trial at the next term of Federal
court in Asheville as Crawford
