Country Club Officers
And Directors Elected
At the annual meeting of the
Tryon Country club on Tuesday
the three new directors, Walter
Howell, George Brannon and
James R. Trowbridge were elected
to succeed retiring directors F.
P. Bacon, E. C. Rowe and C. N.
Sayre. Other members whose
terms did not expire include M.
B. Flynn, J. C. Kimberly, C. H.
Conrad, Baxter Haynes, Nelson
Jackson, Jr., and B. L. Ballenger.
After the annual meeting of the
stockholders during which good
reports were given by all the com
mittees and plans were discussed
lor the future, the dirctors re
tired and elected as officers B. L.
Ballenger for president; Nelson
Jackson, Jr., as vice-president; E.
C. Rowe, secretary and Baxter
Haynes, treasurer. The various
committees will be announced
later by the president.

George Washington Tea
Reservations are now being
made for the patriotic tea to be
held the Library on Friday
afternoon, February 21st, the day
preceding the birthday of our
first great patriot. The American
flag will be used in the decorations
and the colors carried thru on the
tables, where you can entertain
a group of your friends. There
will also be a Dutch Treat Table
for all and sundry. Music and
conversation will accompany the
Tea and the good confections * that
the women of the Lanier Club can
always be counted on to furnish.
Better hvae it in mind and ask
Miss Carpenter to save you a
place. 35 cents is the moderate
