Dear Mr. Vining:
Last night the Polk County
principals and representa
tive students from their respective
schools, were given a wonderful
opportunity to enjoy lessons in
loyalty as portrayed on the screen
at Tryon Theatre.
I always appreciate fine op
portunities, so in behalf of Negro
youth of Polk County, and in ap
preciation from the Pea Eidge
school, for the generosity and
thoughtfulness on the part of the
Kiwanis and Rotary Club mem
bers, I gratefully submit the fol
lowing lines for publication:
It gives me pleasure to relate
Our joys of yester-eve;
Words can’t portray just how we
feel,
If so, would you believe
That we are truly thankful for
We have been blessed to be
A part of such a grand old place,
of the brave and free.
V-e thank you for the dear old
flag
The flag of grace, and beauty
To keep the banner still unfurled
We stand to do our duty.
In union, strength, security
We’ll stand —yes one and all
Fight for Old Glory side by side
And never let it fall.
There’s not a place with finer folk
(Unless it’s where we live)
Than in the little town of Tryon.
They give, and give and give,
They give to help those in their
town
In any worthy plan,
Then step out in the county wide
