Est. 1-31-28 Boy Scout Honor Court Held On Monday Night The Polk County Boy Stout Court of Honor held in the Parish -Tlouse on Monday night was pre <fpided over by R. H„ Brady acting as chairman for Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln. Sitting on the Court with him were Nelson Jackson, Jr., J'. W. Taylor, G. Isham Henderson, Robert Dick, Rev. D. M. MlcGeachy, M. B. Caldwell, Scout Executive R. Mi. Schiele. Mrs. Schiele served as secretary. The meeting opened with prayer by Mr. McGeachy and the Scout - oath led by Mr. ' The following Scouts were ad vanced in rank: Tenderfoot Rank: Billy Lick, Homer Durham, Billy Capps. Merit Badges—Safety: Harri son Bridgeman. Following the usual custom the Negro boys were then examined. Merit Badges—Cooking: Ulysses Burchetts, Percy McClure, Aus- i Vin MapV Safety:* William Fox. After awards of previous Courts were made the meeting closed with the repeating of the Stout benediction. Hunter Trials Wednesday The annual Hunter Trials of the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club will be held on Wednesday after noon beginning at 2:30 at the Barnacle on the LeMort place. The event is being managed by Mrs. Samuel Abernethy and Mrs. 77 Iward H. Bennett, assisted by Dudley Smith and C. J. Lynch. The patrol judges will be Walter C. Hill and George W. Vander- Please Turn to Page Two TRYON, N. C., TUESDAY, MAR. .18, 1941 Clean-Up Week Receives Unanimous Endorsement In compliance with the Procla mation of Mayor E. E. Missildine desigating the week of April 7-12 as Clean-Up Week for the Town of Tryon, the various civic organ izations of Tryon and the public schools have signified in letters to Mrs. Raymond Dodge, chair man of the Civic Committee of the Tryon Garden club, their unnanimous endorsement of clean up week. The Proclamation of Mayor Missildine is as follows: “PROCLAMATION “Tryon, March 17, 1941. “Whereas, the Gard n Club has selected the week of April 7th to 12th to be known as Clean-Up Week, and wishing to cooperate with this worthy organization, I, E. E. Missildine, Mayor, Town of Tryon, do hereby designate the week of April 7th to 12th as Clean-Up Week for the Town of Tryon and request that all citi zens join in the enterprise and make it a successful event. Let us remember the remaining Fif ty-One weeks, for th:y are equal ly as important. “(Signed) E. E. Mlssildne, “Mayor, Town of Tryon.” Supplementing the Mayor’s Proclamation is the following statement issued by C. H. Helms, Town Manager of Tryon: “The Town of Tryon wishes to cooperate in every way with the Garden Club in clean-up week, and to that end is willing to aid in the work by furnishing a truck to carry away any refuse collect- Continued on Back Page
