Mrs. Emma Barnett Mrs. Emma Barnett, 69, a resi dent of Landrum 30 'years, died at her residence at 7:30 o’clock Thursday after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Barnett, who was a native of Greenville County, was the widow of John Barnett. Surviv ors include two daughters, Mrs. Jack Foster of Columbus, N. C., Mrs. Vance Settle of Land- funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a. m., at the Ebenezer Welcome Baptist church in upper Greenville .County. The Rev. J. G. Stroud will officiate at the last rites, with burial in the church cemetery. C., FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 1941 St. Luke’s Hospital Assn. Holds Annual Meeting The annual meeting of St. Luke’s Hospital Association Ex ecutive Board was held on Thurs day evening at the home of Miss Mae Irene Flentye. Retiring chair man R. H. Brady stated that the support of the hospital by its friends had been very gratifying and that only a few pledges had not been paid, but that most of them were expected to be paid sometime this week. Secretary Violney T. Barnette reported that approximately $5,000 would be needed again this year to supplement the revenue received from, paying patients. This fund is to be raised by the trustees and the hospital asso ciation. The Trustees of the Hospital are Julian Calhoun, chairman; F. P. Bacon, J. C. Kimberly, Ralph C. Erskine, Chas. G. Sewall, Rus sell Walcott, Samuel A. Bingham, Mrs. Bernard Sharp, Bishop Frank Hale Touret. The Hospita 7 Association elect ed Seth M. Vining as chairman for this year’s campaign; G. Isham Henderson, vice-chairman; B. L. Ballenger, treasurer; Vol nev T. Barnette, secretary. J. T. Arledge was appointed chairman of the county friends of the hospital. K. A. Bowen, J. M. Baker and Miss Flentye in charge of solicitors. Others on the Executive Com mittee are C. M. Howes, Alex Arledge Jerry Drew, Dudley C. Smith. The date of the campaign will be announced by Mayor E. E. Missildine.
